When setting up your e-mail program, the following settings should be used.

mail.ul.net | (or mail.YourDomain.com) |
| User Name/Account: | username | (your user name) |
| Password: | password | (your password) |
You will be prompted for a password. This password is given to you when you join UL.net. Some mail programs automatically remember your password each time you load the program, and some allow you to set an option to remember the mail password so you do not have to type in your password every time you run the program.
UL.net supports both POP3 and IMAP mail server formats.
POP3 is the most common type of mail server, which almost every email program supports. When using POP3, messages are downloaded from the mail server to your computer, and the messages and mail folders are kept locally on your hard disk. This allows you to view your email even when you are not connected to the Internet. You must connect to the Internet to send and receive new email. The disadvantage is that you cannot read your email messages from another computer or location once you download them from the mail server.
IMAP is the format of choice if you use the Internet from different locations and want to be able to see the messages that are saved in your mailbox. When using IMAP, the messages and folders are kept remotely on the mail server. You can read the messages through your mail program, such as Outlook Express or Netscape just like POP3 email, but because the messages are left on the mail server, you can check, manage, and save the same email messages from several different computers or locations. You can also easily move the massages to your local computer by simply moving them to a mail local folder.
Configuring Your Email Account
When you sign up with UL.net, by default you receive an email account with infitine aliasing. This means that any mail send to any name at your domain name will go into your default email account.
