Setting up Access Restrictions
Access control allows you to restrict access to your web pages or a subdirectory of your web pages to specified usernames and passwords or based on the internet address of the client. We use Apache web server software, which uses NCSA Style Authentication. Access control for a directory is controlled by a file named .htaccess within the directory. The server checks this file each time a page in the directory (or pages in subdirectories) are accessed.
